DO INDIANS NEED TO FOLLOW A TASTELESS DIET?

No to my mind. Tasteless foods are so bland that you won't want to eat them.

Indian diet is a good balance of carbs (various food grains and unrefined rice, wheat, etc.), pulses, vegetables, seasonal fruits, nuts and seeds, organic eggs, fresh milk, etc. Most of the Indian food items include pure unrefined cooking oil that is ‘Ghana oil’ and sweeteners like honey, wholesome food like jaggery, dried fruits.

Fresh green leafy vegetables, bhakri, varan bhaath are awesome. Balanced tasty meals are to die for. Along with Kothimber wadi, thali pith, pithla some surprising chutneys, thecha, salad, Kanda paath are complimentary. Mutton and a lot of non-vegetarian food having a bunch of nutrients are love to and die for. Most of the Indians know to cook such dishes by nurturing the nutritional value. Food habits and culture must go hand in hand.

“GOOD TASTE IS AS GOOD AS A GOOD COMPANY."

A typical Maharashtrian Thali includes Varan Bhaat, Bhajji, Koshimbir, Batata Bhaji, Poori, Shrikhand, Masale-Bhaat, Katachi Amti, Matki Usal, Chapati, Pooran Poli, Kadhi, Basundi, Modak, butter-milk, and many more.

Most of the food consumed is a ‘Sattvic diet’ or ‘Yogic diet’ for healthy living. A sattvic diet has qualities of sattva, which include “pure, essential, vital, energy-containing, clean.” The sattvic diet follows the rule of ‘Ahimsa’ that is not causing harm to any living being. Some of the sattvic herbs include ashwagandha, bacopa, Gotu kola, jatamansi, Shatavari, saffron, shankhapushpi, tulsi, rose. These virtues have been passed to us through generations since our great grandparents. We have been following those without questioning.

“THERE IS NO LOVE SINCERER THAN THE LOVE OF FOOD.”

Indians very rarely consume processed, refrigerated, packed, ready-to-eat preserved food.
