  Is 2020 was the year, India supposed to become a superpower? Unfortunately, it got left behind. Always there was hope, if all else failed, the promise of 2020 was there. It offered a target and even offered a plan of action. Through all the ups and downs of the middle years, from 1998, when  India 2020: A Vision for the New Millennium  was published,  it became a guide to the future. It offered a strong vision that, as 2020 ends, India would be Superpower in two decades but the dream still survives. Back in 1998, India even could not meet global standards of human development.  Wondering!, how did Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam have such extreme thoughts about India conquering the world?
